Building Permits
Due to industry demands, please allow up to 7 business days for standard building permit processing.
(New construction, remodels, pools, and solar projects: Please allow 30 business days for processing.)
*No work on any project applied for shall begin until a permit is in hand and posted where it is prominently seen. In failing to obtain a building permit (paying all applicable fees and obtaining the physical permit certificate), additional fines may apply.*
Plan Review fees are due at the time of submitting the permit application (except new construction only.) Plan Review fees are stated in the Annual Fee Ordinance, or you may call Village Hall at (815) 645-8000 to find how much the Plan Review fee will be for each application. This does not include inspection fees or resubmittals. Plan Review fees must be paid before processing, or your application will be denied.
Inspections
Please call Village Hall (815) 645-8000 if you need to schedule an inspection, as active permits are being transitioned to Lakeside's database. Permits issued after July 1st, 2026, can call or email Lakeside: they will need the address, permit #, and site contact name/phone number, and at least a 24-hour notice.
