During the May Utilities Committee Meeting we had a large number of residents show up with concerns on water, road, and drainage issues. At that meeting it was suggested that we post updates on the village website, well here it is.
We are working with the subdivision contractors to try and get the issues resolved. Unfortunately, this process has been less than productive in some areas. Let me start by breaking out the issues and tell you where we are at.
Ogle Crossing – Gravel Road
Bob Protz and I have been in contact with Mr. Howlett on improving the current condition of the gravel portion of Northwestern Avenue. Bob is going to be grading the road this week and a roller is to be used to compact the road to try and help alleviate the pot holes. I know this is a temporary fix but any improvement is a plus until it can get paved. We will continue to work with Mr. Howlett to get the road paved and resolve this issue all together.
Ogle Crossing – Water issue
The Village is moving closer to getting the Ogle Crossings lift station changed over so we can lower the water table. This should help with the constant running water issues that some home owners are having. We are looking to have this done in the next few months. However, in resolving this issue we do have to disturb some other home owner’s property. We are currently talking to them about what this will entail.
Harvest Glenn – Water Issue
The issue that affects the most people has been the least productive. At the meeting, the intent was to hire a contractor to locate and determine where the drain tile is. This was going to let us know if we have some drain tile plugged or broken. However, Contry Homes does not want to participate in covering the cost for this process. We are trying to get them to present the village with a solution so we can review it. We will be discussing this again at the June 15th Utilities Committee Meeting to determine what other course of action the Village may take.
Mowing
John Talbot and Bob Protz have been talking with all subdivision contractors about the tall grass and weeds in their respective areas. We will continue our diligence in addressing this issue.
The above is just a quick overview of what has been going on with these issues. I assure you that there have been daily e-mails and conversations pertaining to these issues. We will continue to keep these issues at the forefront as they are important to get resolved.
Thank you,
